In India it is usually used to treat skin conditions, digestive issues, aches and pains. In its own right curcumin is known for its effects as depurant, anti-rheumatoid, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant. It boosts activation of the white blood cells thus supports a higher immune response to harmful infections. Due to its inhibition of leucotrienes it suppports anti-inflammatory effects. By decreasing the activity of the glutathione-s-tranferase enzyme it helps to relieve the side effects of chemotherapy.
